Hoppin’ Fox Equestrian is a small, owner-operated horse boarding farm in Fort Defiance, Virginia. We keep a limited number of horses so every one of them gets real attention, not a number on a stall card.
All of our boarders are in the pastures. We don’t do stall boarding as a general practice; the barn has stalls reserved for special purposes.

Horses at Hoppin’ Fox have access to well-maintained pasture and turnout, and solid fencing that’s checked and repaired on a regular schedule. The farm’s trails are kept clear for riding, and the same care that goes into the fences and land goes into the day-to-day routine your horse is on: feeding, turnout, and check-ins happen on a schedule you can count on.

We treat boarding as a relationship, not a transaction. You’re trusting us with an animal that matters to you, and we don’t take that lightly. You should always be able to reach us, see how your horse is doing, and know what a normal day looks like for them here.
This is a good fit for boarders looking for a smaller, quieter farm rather than a large commercial operation, where the owners are on-site, involved, and easy to reach, and where your horse is one of a known few rather than one of many.
